I dared to play big. I learned to go smaller.
Before Christmas I was hired to help with building a website. The project was so large that I had to discuss it with my own coach after putting pen to paper and fingers to calculator buttons about a thousand times. Did I have enough hours in my week, in my day? Was any amount of money worth the time I would have to put into the project in order to get it done and done right?
These were tough questions! What was tougher was trying to see into the future and imagine all the possible outcomes. All those “what ifs” came rolling in and washed over me like the waves pulling me under in the tide.
Sometimes you just have to jump in to be able to move forward. Sink or swim. Fake it or make it – or both.
Turns out it has been a very big learning experience for me, with big self realizations and breakthroughs that help my clients down the road. While I’ve enjoyed the clarity that this client has, and the education I’ve gleened from my work on this project, I’m not in love with the stress it has created in my head and body.
So, my focus is changing thanks to my experience. Has this happened for you? Are you learning from your growth and your growing pains?
Rather than looking for big projects, I’m looking for smaller visions that may develop into big fat community driven projects.
My vision has developed into providing tools, with guidance, and coaching for clients who aren’t exactly sure what they want or where they want to be.
Coach, teach, implement, coach again. Ongoing.
Coaching and learning and implementing should happen repeatedly for the rest of your life.
