No makes way for yes.
This quote rings very true for me right now as I’m experiencing growing pains and self realization and passion plays all at the same time like a roller coaster ride from the business amusement park of life.
I’ve come to the understanding that it’s easier to show others how to make themselves happy, than it is to try and make them happy by myself. Too many clients don’t even know it, but they want the creative control over their own branding – including their sites. But most of them don’t have the right tools to do it with, or they feel like they don’t have the time to learn how to do this.
What I keep hearing and seeing is that once their project is built, they find that they invest more time in managing it and more time in asking questions than if they had just taken the time to learn how to do it in the first place. There is a huge sense of accomplishment also.
Empowerment is what I went into coaching for 2 years ago, and it still seems to be what I’m providing. Even when a client really doesn’t have the time to completely learn a new tool to build their site or design a new logo, they can learn the process and that alone will empower them to make better descisions for their business, and for their own emotional satisfaction.

All that being said, until recently I didn’t understand exactly why I wasn’t really excited to be busy with clients. It took several sessions with my own coach to get to the heart of it. I don’t like feeling like I couldn’t deliver for a client. Yet, clients were coming to me weeks and months later not feeling quite as happy as they thought they were when they signed off on the project.
Why? Because they didn’t really understand what they wanted when they hired me. This realization prompted me to change my business model and my services.
How? Instead of trying to help build something for an unclear vision, I’ll teach you to build your own vision through coaching and through do it yourself tools and services.
By April, the new how-to video memebership will roll out for testing, plus another membership with videos and informational products designed to teach you how to build your own business, website, and keep your life intact while doing it.
This makes me happy. But, I had to say no to customizing services, and yes to letting clients learn to do it for themselves.
